Text Work sample Year 7 - 8 Chinese Second-Language Learner Pathway: Shopping role play

This work sample demonstrates evidence of student learning in relation to aspects of the achievement standards for Year 7 and 8 Shopping role play. The primary purpose for the work sample is to demonstrate the standard, so the focus is on what is evident in the sample not how it was created. The sample is an authentic representation of student work and may contain errors such as spelling mistakes and other inaccuracies. In this work sample students: • initiate and maintain interactions in Chinese language in familiar and some unfamiliar contexts related to a range of interests and experiences. • select and use vocabulary, sentence structures, expressions and levels of formality, to create texts. • apply the conventions of spoken Chinese, including differences in sounds and tones, to develop fluency. • demonstrate understanding that spoken, written and multimodal texts use different conventions, features and linguistic structures to convey meaning.
